Melissa Zukowski

Dr. Zukowski received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona in Psychology in 2001. She then attended medical school at the University of Arizona College of Medicine where she earned her medical degree in addition to her Masters degree in Public Health with a focus on maternal and child health. Dr. Zukowski completed the Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics combined residency program here in Tucson in 2012 and is board certified in both specialties.

Dr. Zukowski worked for EmCare at Tucson Medical Center in the Emergency Department from 2012 to 2017 where she directed the Pediatric ED for 3 years before being recruited back to join the Department of Emergency Medicine at Banner UMC – Tucson. Dr. Zukowski has been directing the Pediatric Emergency Department at Banner since August of 2017 where she is an Associate Professor.

Dr. Zukowski most recently was appointed an associate director of the Banner SAFE-T program, a program dedicated to victims of adult sexual assault and all forms of child abuse. Dr. Zukowski is also passionate about quality improvement and childhood injury prevention including drowning and childhood traumatic injuries and abuse.

When Dr. Zukowski is not at work, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family, including her husband Tom and her daughter Sophia, who is 2 years old.
