Megan Johnson

Advisory Council

Megan’s love for aquatics began at a young age when she started taking swim lessons and competing on the local swim team. Later, she became a lifeguard with the City of Peoria and during the last 15 years, she has gone from part-time employment as a lifeguard, swim lesson instructor, swim team coach, pool manager, and Rec. IV, to now full-time employment as a Recreation Coordinator.

As a proud Arizona State graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Megan began her career life as an elementary school teacher. For several years, she taught fourth grade during the school year and then managed one of the City of Peoria pools during the summer time. After recently reevaluating her life, she decided to make aquatics her new full-time career path. Working in aquatics (and with the DPCA) has allowed her to unite her two passions – education and water safety. It is her goal to provide swim lessons and water safety education to as many people as possible, no matter what background or socio-economic status they come from.

Megan currently lives in the west valley with her husband and two young children.
