Why Join the Drowning Prevention Coalition?
Arizona is second in the nation for child drownings, with an average of twenty drownings per year in Maricopa County alone. However, recent years have seen decreased fatalities, with our 2006 rate the lowest in more than twenty years.
Arizona’s strong drowning prevention programs and collaboration among water safety professionals are the likely reason for the decrease. That’s why it’s more important than ever for passionate public safety professionals, parents, neighbors, and relatives of children touched by drowning to take advantage of the benefits of membership in the coalition.
Why join the DPCA? Here are the benefits to you and your organization:
- Being a member brings you in touch with some of the most active water safety advocates in the State of Arizona. National-level experts can share the tips that make their programs work, and learn about your ideas for keeping children safe around water.
- Membership allows you greater exposure of your program, events, and speakers.
- Members learn about the latest trends and the data in the field, allowing you to design your efforts with the greatest chance of success with funders and efficacy in the community.
- Members learn about developments in other injury prevention organizations, and educational opportunities both in Arizona and around the country.
The Drowning Prevention Coalition of Arizona is a non-profit, 501(3)(c) organization. Annual membership is $30 for individuals, $100 for organizations (which can include up to five individuals).
